Get Ready for the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Twilight Masquerade!
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is set to dazzle fans with its latest expansion, Scarlet & Violet—Twilight Masquerade, scheduled for release on May 24, 2024. This exciting new series is packed with over 160 cards, including more than a dozen new Pokémon ex, making it a must-have for collectors and competitive players alike (Pokemon) (Pokemon).
What's New in Twilight Masquerade?
The Twilight Masquerade expansion introduces players to the enchanting land of Kitakami, a place where people and Pokémon coexist harmoniously with nature. At the heart of this expansion are the masked Legendary Pokémon Ogerpon, which appear as four different types of Tera Pokémon ex, each offering unique strategic advantages (Pokemon).
Key Highlights:
- New Pokémon ex: Look forward to newly discovered Pokémon like Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex and Sinistcha ex. Familiar faces like Greninja, Dragapult, and Magcargo also make their return as Tera Pokémon ex, boasting stunning new designs and powerful abilities.

Prerelease Events and Build & Battle Boxes
For those eager to get a head start, prerelease events will be held, offering a unique way to experience the new set. Participants will use Build & Battle Boxes to construct 40-card decks and compete in quick, fun games. Each box includes four booster packs from the Twilight Masquerade set, a ready-to-play 40-card deck featuring key cards from both current and previous sets, and one of four unique foil promo cards: Thwackey, Infernape, Froslass, or Tatsugiri (Pokemon).
Unique Promo Cards
Each of the four promo cards adds a distinct flavor to the prerelease decks:
- Thwackey: With its Boom Boom Groove Ability, Thwackey can search your deck for any card, provided your Active Pokémon has the Festival Lead Ability, making it a versatile addition to any deck.
- Infernape: Infernape's Pyro Dance Ability allows for dynamic energy management, letting you attach Basic Fire and Fighting Energy from your hand to your Pokémon, powering up its Scorching Fire attack for significant damage.
- Froslass: Froslass's Freezing Shroud Ability places damage counters on all Pokémon with Abilities during Pokémon Checkup, making it a strategic choice for wearing down opponents.
